The Falsity of Star Wars
First topic message reminder :
On this topic I am going to discuses how some of the things they do in Star Wars cannot happen in real life.
1) Neutronium
Ahh the Star Wars "Your weapons can't pierce this HAHA we win"
NOT SO FAST
SW Neutronium Is a metal and can exists naturally in the pressures of a moon
This means by default it cannot be REAL Neutronium
REAL Neutroniumcan only exists where the pressures are high enough to combined protons and electrons like in Neutron Stars. And you cannot like in SW bond it with other metals IE lomite and zersium
And if you still dispute me why where the Impreals afraid of Asteroids if they have the STRONGEST POSSIBLE SUBSTANCE IN THE UNIVERSE

Re: The Falsity of Star Wars
*Sigh* We discussed this Agent, or was it Toa and I? well regardlesss. None of the games or books (Minus the movie books I.E. Star Wars Episode one TFP etc.) are cannon there part of the EU (Expanded Universe).
The movies are absolute canon,
but the scripts and novelisations of the movies are also considered a lesser part
of the canon. Also considered to a very limited and minor degree are the Star
Wars radio plays broadcast on National Public Radio. And that is
all.
Star Trek has five complete series worth of canon along with ten motion pictures.
Paramount and CBS Corp. have also maintained that the Star Trek novels of Jeri Taylor are
considered canon. And that is all.

Re: The Falsity of Star Wars
I don't care what the corporations say, I count them as real, because otherwise what was the point of reading?
Re: The Falsity of Star Wars
To have a different take on a story. If we included everything as Cannon then th3ere would be so many contradictions that it would be a pointless debate. It would go something like this
"Star Wars would use the Sun Crusher to PWN the Federation!"
"Oh yeah, well Picard would use the Devils Heart to destroy the Sun Crusher!"
"Oh yeah, well Darth Nilhus would Eat Picard's Soul!"
"Oh yeah, well Q would vaporize Nilhus!"
"Oh yeah, well..."
etc. etc.

Re: The Falsity of Star Wars
We arent avoiding those debates, juast making them more pointless, besides, heres my take. If George Lucas and lucasarts are trusting enough to let the writer write a comic, story or game, they must either trust the writer to write good stuff, or don't ask him at all. George Lucas approved it, so that makes it canon in my book.
Re: The Falsity of Star Wars
Lucas also said that everything outside the movies was an alternate reality
Re: The Falsity of Star Wars
If you want to talk about the superlaser you should not even SEE the laser. That's physics.

Re: The Falsity of Star Wars
Ahhh, but star wars lasers are not the traditional light beams, but a condensed bolt of heat. Since it is not moving at the speed of light, its natural that it takes time to hit a planet.
Re: The Falsity of Star Wars
You can make and see the ion cannon blast.

Re: The Falsity of Star Wars
let me put it this waySSJ Data wrote:heat is also invisible, and one can not make a bolt of heat.
heat is energy
it is possible to see energy, such as when we look at fire
thus, we can possibly see a bolt of energy
Re: The Falsity of Star Wars
Fire is plasma, you can see plasma (provided it's not burning Ultra-Violate hot).
you cannot see heat with the naked eye. You can see it's effect but heat is invisible. I think what you are presiving as heat is the source not the actual temperature variations in the universe
And a "bolt" is a very vague term.

Only very few forms of energy are actually visible, so i am gonna agree with data on this one. I believe that the lasers however are meant to be light, but are just shown to move slowly due to movie magic.
