Reeds just kept on whistling as guards and crew cleared out of his path. Eventually, he stopped at a door, the label addressing it as 'Science Lab 2A.' He smiled as he opened the door and Lae saw that the science lab was not small by any means. It was massive, in fact, taking up at least five rooms and two floors entirely on its own. It also seemed to host a massive range of equipment, some of which were entirely foreign to him. With all of the technology, equipment, and stores here, one could only wonder what Reeds' intention was with this lab.

He rolled the cart up next to two others and then proceeded to rummage around for a datapad. "Sit down, my fine lab rat." He said friendly still as he finally found his desired object, turning it own and turning toward Lae, a mischievous grin on his face.

After Lae left, Lara turned back to Rain. "I don't want to hear it." Rain said, a little harshly and irritated. "I know what you're going to say, 'you shouldn't do that to him.'" He stands up straight, looking from the hologram to Lara now. "Then you must know me too well..." She replied bitterly. "..." Rain walks to the door, stopping right next to Lara. "I don't trust him, I don't like him, he shouldn't be here, especially with that mouth and mind of his." "That's what they said about us at the start..." She shot back, Rain remained silent, remembering what she meant. "Perhaps..." He said, then walked out, not saying a further word.

Lae would begin walking around the local area in the city, knowing he had an hour before they had to head off to fight again. He would walk through damaged and deserted buildings. He stopped in a ruined restaurant, seeing that there were still drinks on some tables half-full. Left in a hurry, obviously. He thought to himself. He would stay on alert, however, in case they had missed some enemies hiding out in the buildings.

The man from before, the one that lead the Regnum Squad, was at the far end, sitting on a table by himself. He seemed to be distracted by his own thoughts as he stared blankly at an empty, ruined wall at the opposite end of the room. He didn't acknowledge Lae's presence at all.

Lae stood and stared at him for a few moments contemplating whether or not to try to talk to him, but decided to just walk along. He would walk across the room and walk past him and head for the door next to him.

Xaldius: I see you're not a team player today.

Lae would actually simply ignore the voice in his head this time.

Leon kept to himself, focusing on his thoughts. In the next room, the rest of the squad was relaxing, idly chatting with each other. Michael looked up to see Lae walking in and waved. "Hey, are you the new guy around here?" He asked, grinning to himself, but not mischievously so.

Lae would stop just before the door and turn and stare for a moment. "Yes?" He would say almost as if asking a question.

"Oh, good, nice to meet you finally." He said sincerely, extending his hand. "I've heard you're pretty good so far."

Lae would shrug at the comment. "I'm okay, I guess." He would reply. He would shake Leon's hand rather firmly for someone who looked like skin and bones in baggy robes and over sized armor.

Michael seemed approving of Lae's small display of strength in that handshake, but just smiled all the same "Right. I'll get you to that Spire, and if you need any help, don't be afraid to ask one of us. We look out for our own, right?"

Lae would nod, but he would return the grin with an emotionless stare as if he were looking at something a hundred yards behind Leon. He would then walk out the door he had originally intended to walk out and would walk down an empty street. He walked for a long time and felt something crack beneath his boot. He moved his foot and saw a small model star fighter, one that was most likely a child's toy at some point. One of the wings had broken off beneath his foot, but he picked up the majority of it that was still in tact. He stared at it for a few moments in silence.

"Catch me if you can!" He heard a child nearby cry out. Lae would be startled by this. He dropped the toy and stood up quickly, but resisted the urge to draw a weapon.
"Hello?" Lae called out. He saw nothing around him, his voice was answered only by an echo of itself off the empty buildings.

For a few moments he stood alone then walked back to find Leon. When he walked back into the building and immediately said. "I heard someone."

Leon looked up Lae, returning the blank stare. "... Heard someone?" He repeated the question, probably desiring further detail into what Lae was suggesting.

Lae nodded. "I was walking around down the street and heard a child. It sounded like they were playing." Just by his expression, Lae would seem confused.

Leon thought to himself for a moment. "... there is no one besides us two here." He returned, still keeping an emotionless facade to himself.

Lae stood there for a moment. "I swear I heard someone..." He trailed off, looking back out the door he came in, then began walking back to the base rather quickly.

Lae would nod and returned with, again, a surprisingly firm shake. He would remain silent this time however and seemed to be distracted to say the least.

"Say, have you seen Leon around here? He seems to have disappeared on us again." Michael said, ignoring the fact that Lae seemed distracted.

Just as Lae pointed in the general direction of the bar, a loud explosion could be heard coupled with Leon sprinting towards them very quickly. He pulled out a blaster and shot behind him. "Regnum, demons past the barriers, eliminate them!" He yelled out, and the squad replied immediately, splitting up and spreading out to make a wall, as they all pulled out various weapons to counter the coming enemy.

Just as Lae pointed in the general direction of the bar, a loud explosion could be heard coupled with Leon sprinting towards them very quickly. He pulled out a blaster and shot behind him. Lae would barely move a muscle, still pointing at the bar, but his expression slowly faded from blank apathy to sheer annoyance. He would draw his sword slowly and mutter "[censored] lovely..."

Soon, from the fires of the explosion, an entire army of demonic figures appeared, rushing at Regnum. Leon jumped away from the first demon that struck at him, shooting it in the head as Regnum engaged the enemy. Leon shot two more and turned to Lae. "You, go back to the base and inform them of the attack before we get overwhelmed." He ordered shortly, before he got interrupted by another demon that he narrowly dodged an attack from, and promptly replied with a shot to the face.

Soon, from the fires of the explosion, an entire army of demonic figures appeared, rushing at Regnum. Leon jumped away from the first demon that struck at him, shooting it in the head as Regnum engaged the enemy. Leon shot two more and turned to Lae. "You, go back to the base and inform them of the attack before we get overwhelmed." He ordered shortly, before he got interrupted by another demon that he narrowly dodged an attack from, and promptly replied with a shot to the face.

Lae would resheath his sword somewhat spitefully, then run back to the base to find Rain, or at least, someone who looked important enough to tell.

More demons mixed with shadows appeared over the tops of the buildings as Lae ran towards the base. The demons shot hellfire blasts at Lae as the shadows jumped down. Some flanking Regnum, whom continued to hold their ground, while others began chasing Lae. The base was just ahead though.

Lae would dodge the flames then draw a throwing knife. "NOW I KNOW YOU DID NOT JUST THROW THAT FIERY [censored] AT ME!" He shouted. He would throw the knife at one of the closest demons and continue running.

One motioned for Lae to continue on through as the base alarm rang loud and clear, sending the resident soldiers into a frenzy to retaliate to whomever their attackers were.

Lae went through the entrance at a full sprint, and began to wonder if it was even worth telling someone now. He actually began to consider turning around and fighting. Their alarms are going off already, is it even worth telling an officer?

Rain came sprinting out, weapon drawn and only stopped due to seeing Lae. "Early strike, already... What are we up against?" He asked, as if concerned more about what the enemy sent than that his men were in danger.
