Avalonian Factions
Here is a list of known governments and a short history behind them.
I will also mention what god they serve under.
Heaven
A divine order, to be sure, the Angels have never been considered a part of, nor entered, the galactic stage. Wholly devoted to Aeon, the angels of Astyr have but the one world. One massive, golden, city-world, to be precise. The angels tend to have odd names, and named after cities found amongst the world. Though it is one massive metropolis, how this works is one of the many mysteries to outsiders.
Arcturus Protectorate
The last bands of human colonies that survived Exitium's attempted purging of the Kiltaran Empire have come together to form the Arcturus Protectorate. Now fiercely devoted to their own survival, and the only god that has so far deemed to help them to an official extent, Aeon, the humans are trying to recover some of their technological glory.
Once revered as the largest space-faring empire in the galaxy, as well as being the most advanced, with the Dwarven kingdoms as rivals, and wielding the largest militarized force, bested only by the elves, the Arcturus Protectorate retains only a handful of their former city-worlds and forces. Even then, however, most of both have been ravaged by Exitium's armies. With their space fleets decimated, and their armies bogged down in costly land wars, the humans had to rely on Aeon's support.
Elvan Council
The only stable power truly remaining on the galactic stage, and not decimated by war or internal conflict, the Elvan Council is actually a collection of representatives of various elvan governments cooperating together in order to properly serve Anima. They retain the strongest, and most disciplined, military force in the known galaxy. Though not powerful in terms of technology, they have never had a need for such thanks to their entire known race being powerful mystic users. This magic has long since worked into their society and culture, as their entire military requires it to even function properly. Based on portal creation, mystic powered space-faring transports, and close mystic cooperation between armed forces, the elves presented a powerful force to any who would dare invade them. Unyielding and unforgiving to any enemy of Anima.
Dwarven Kingdoms
There is no fine line in which can define what dwarven king rules where, but in wartime, they have taken pride in their close, and friendly, cooperation with eachother. However, it is with regret that that story is no longer true, and as the long war takes its toll on the dwarves, one can see the fractures between the proud warrior race. Though united under Anima, kingdoms have begun squabling with eachother. Their once famous symbiosis of technology and mysticism used against their own in petty skirmishes. It does sound greatly as if Chaos were involved, attempting to bring ruin to a lively, hearty, and powerful presence in the galaxy.
The Dark Order
Dark elves under the service of Chaos and Exitium both, have begun to challenge the brothers that banished them. Equal in mystic strength and camaraderie, even to the elvan armies, they can be a challenge. With divine backing, however, it is a true question of whether or not the Evlan Council can truly stand against this torrent of hatred and destruction. As far as comparisons go, the Dark Order is more effective, unit per unit, but far, far less numerous. A minority amongst the races, the dark elves inhabit but a handful of worlds.
The Dread Horde
Strictly under the command of Exitium, they did not name themselves. Instead, they were named by the humans, due to the abominations, as they were called, in their ranks. Though one of the newest factions to enter the galactic stage, the Dread Horde is arguably now the most powerful in part due to the downfall of the humans, and the massive populace that fed their armies. Any technology, mystic strength, or otherwise unit, is more likely than not to have originated from a long-extinct civilization, or a current, besieged one. Few living races ever join the Horde.
The Discord Swarm
The mighty, diverse, and powerful legions under the sole control of Chaos, they were named such by several species that have come under siege by them. Though recognized as separate from the Dark Order, the Discord Swarm does not seem to have any clear chain of command, just a chain of power. It is a wonder how this force stands united, especially under Chaos's wings, but their effectiveness, and efficiency when decimating planets, cannot be understated. They would wield any technology, any magic, and anything they can find or make themselves to decimate rivals or their enemies alike. Curiously enough, their infighting doesn't do any significant damage to their numbers, which has so far remained relatively constant, if not increased.
