The Golden Armies of Aurisium
Armed Forces:
Races:
Human (Auris): Short, swift, reasonable balance between areas of combat. Capable of medium & heavy armors.
Sovani:
Example
Tall, muscular, average speed, lacks compatible armor beyond the medium variety. Tends to be skilled and disciplined.
Infantry
The essential part of the Aurisium army, the infantry form the largest portion of its military might, and is the basis for its expansion.Auris Footsoldier:
Picture
Your basic infantry wielding either twin, double-edged shortswords or the standard issue longbow, the Auris footsoldier can be found in abundant numbers across the empire.
Sovani Soldier:
Picture
A rank up from the standard footsoldier, these four-armed feline-like creatures possess impressive discipline. They can be armed with twin crossbows, twin double-end halberds, or four double-edged swords at any point in time. However, due to their larger height and size overall, they tend to be larger targets and somewhat slower but stronger still.
Sovani Knight:
Picture
Typically field commanders in battle, the Sovani Knights are the most skilled of their brethren and are thus privy to stronger weapons. Armed with two long-fire crossbows or twin double-edged longswords, the knight's ferocious power and loyalty is only matched by their bravery and discipline.
Auris Crystal-blader:
Picture
These Auris commandos tend to be under the command of a Sovani Knight, and are armed with either crystal long-bows, for an impressive range, or crystal-laced longswords. Alongside their crystal-laced armor, these commandos are lethally fast in movement and attacks. However, they wear only medium armor and the crystal itself is not as strong as iron.
Auris Cataclysm:
Picture
*Apologies for the steampunk appearance. This pic fit the best though. So just ignore the more machine elements, the glowing stuff is actually Crystal in this case.
One of two units capable of mystic attacks, the Auris Cataclysms are called such for their use of Crystal as a means to transmute their magic. Utilizing crystal-based equipment, mainly all-crystal swords, these mages are capable of extraordinary things. However, crystal does mutate them like any other human that uses them in such a manner.
Sovani Novae:
Picture
Sovani units that utilize magic via Crystal and melee or ranged weaponry to maximize damage potential, these units are lethal in battle. While, like all mages, sacrificing armor and durability for agility and power, these Sovani should never be underestimated so long as a single shard of Crystal is present on their person.
Calvary & Transports:
Crafts that do not require mages to operate them, these transports operate autonomously and simply, allowing for virtually anyone with a little common sense to use them, and those with training to use them effectively.Crystal Lightblade:
A light hovercraft replacing the need for calvary, and easily mass-produced, those riding such craft have no need to even steer, and instead need only utilize their feet. With this in mind, they can become either effective calvary archers or melee-oriented. However, the craft's lighter armor and low-carrying capacity refuses any additional passengers and light-provisions and ammo. Again, though, this craft's hovering ability also allows it to go over shallow liquid surfaces with extreme ease. In oceans, though, it seems to sink.
Crystal Heavyblade:
A heavier version of the lightblade, this one utilizes more crystals, as is possible, to afford more armor and carrying capacity. As well, it is more capable of traversing deeper waters, making it valuable for sea battles. Unlike before, it can also carry two people instead of one. Unfortunately, it's not nearly as fast as the lightblade. Still, it is easier to steer and is reasonably capable of turning faster than standard horses, making it effective regardless.
Crystal Firefly:
An aerial transport, and the only design capable of utilizing crystal as a means of flight, the Firefly is a very lightly armored and unarmed transport capable of carrying only a squad of ten at a time. It still retains a surprising speed, but due to its limitations, it is incapable of effectively doubling as a cargo transport.
Siege Units:
Siege engines are powerful crafts that require mages to unlock their full potential. When present on the battlefield, though, they can present a decisive victory against the enemy.Crystal Draconin:
A more powerful and armored float, though it is incapable of carrying someone out of design, it is, essentially, a mobile siege engine. Its design allows it to take an extraordinary amount of damage, as well as either ram a gate or, when coupled with magic users, capable of firing large fire (or other elements) spheres at the target. However, while the crystal makes it mobile and relatively light, it's immensely slow to move.
Crystal Liberator:
The only siege engine capable of autonomy through mystic means, it is an explosive device utilizing the crystal due to its instability. While large, costly, and difficult to move without the enemy seeing it, it is effectively capable of decimating fortified structures if utilized properly.
Crystal Decimator:
An experimental siege engine that is, essentially, a larger version of the Draconin, the Decimator can prove unstable at times. While affording more armor and more mystic cannons, the float sacrifices even more speed, agility, and the risk of a cataclysm event. Few Decimators have been crafted.
Navy Units:
The Aurisium navy far and away surpasses any other, armed with Crystal cannons for extraordinary firepower, a crystal bed placed on the lowest deck for extreme maneuverability and speed, and thus affording for reinforced, and treated, armoring to last better in battles. Its only limiting factor is its need for appropriate mages to utilize the cannons. Due to that, the fleet is not as large as it could be.Dominance Class Flagship:
The most powerful warship that the empire has ever made, the Dominance features three rows of Crystal powered cannons, an artillery-grade Crystal Bombard on the deck, as well as an internal Crystal bed on the bottom most level, allowing for a surprising agility and speed out of the craft. For its surprising armor, armament, speed, and agility, however, the Dominance is immensely expensive. For this reason, only one of this craft is put into service at any point in time, and refits to the existing ship is preferable than outright replacement.
Archon Class Warship:
Utilizing a crystal bed, this warship features only a single row of Crystal cannons, which of course require a Cataclysm to operate. It is also considerably smaller than the Dominance. However, it retains much of the speed and agility of the Dominance, and, as well, it is considerably cheaper. Thus, Archons are found in greater numbers.
Transcend Class Frigate:
Striking a balance between speed and armor, the Transcend is the mainline craft of the Aurisium navy. Featuring less cannons than the Archon, the Transcend is considerably faster and more agile than its stronger counterpart. As well, it still retains much of the armor that the Archon has.
Farseer Class Scout:
The Farseer is lightly armed and armored. To make up for this, it is immensely fast and agile, and is more than capable of dodging fire from enemy ships. Still, it does retain teeth and thanks to its speed, it can fire upon the enemy with impunity in most cases.

Re: The Golden Armies of Aurisium
Elite Orders:
Golden Sovereigns:
Example
The name given to the elite honor guard of the High King, it is a play on the nation's name, as Aurisium itself loosely means "Golden Kingdom" in Auris. Never numbering more than a couple dozen, the Golden Sovereigns employ the best weapons, armor, talent, and cooperative ability amongst the entire Empire, and serve at the hand of the High King himself.
Current Leader: Sovereign Gawain
Prefects:
Example
An order of veterans that are separate from the conventional army, but still often enlisted for their services, the Prefects are also known as the Guardians. Comprised of military-grade weaponry, expert pilots, and highly-trained swordsmen, the Prefects are a lethal force on the battlefield in both land and naval conflicts. They are headquartered in Minerva.
The Crimson Order
Example
An order of Aurisium Crystal Knights, essentially, that operates outside of the High King's knowledge, it is a small order of soldiers led by Kyle Raylen. The purpose of this small order is a mystery, and their existence is found only in rumors. The secrecy surrounding the order is unnatural.
Current Leader: Kyle Raylen

Re: The Golden Armies of Aurisium
Rebel Factions:
The Liberation Army:
Swordsman
Archer
A small force of rebels that are constantly on the move and constantly hunted by the empire, the Liberation Army seeks to overthrow the High King, believing him to be nothing more than a brainwashing, puppeteer and tyrant that hides his true intentions from the public's eyes.
Their numbers unknown and their leaders carefully cloaked in mystery, the rebels continue their defiance against the High King and his minions.
Current Leader: William Vires

Re: The Golden Armies of Aurisium
Characters:
Royal Family:
David Vires
Rank: High King
Age: 51
Bio:
High King David Vires has a shroud of mystery surrounding his history and personality. Rumors abound about the man, but few dare to speak such in his presence. What is known is that he was the one behind the construction of Haven, and the recent military buildup of Aurisium's forces. What is rumored, however, is his ability to utilize Crystal without mutation, and having somehow gained clairvoyance and immortality. But these rumors are unsubstantiated.
William Vires
Rank: Rebel Leader/Prince
Age: 24
Bio:
The son of King David is a secret, as is his real mother. A bastard child of, as he perceives it, a tyrannical king, William leads the Liberation Army against his father. Despite this, though, his personality is not lacking, and his caring for, what fate would state, his future subjects is near-infinite. He does not risk their destruction in his war against the empire, nor does he enjoy battles with overdue risk to those that follow him.
Theodore Vires
Rank: Prince
Age: 21
Bio:
The more well-known son of David Vires, Theodore is a legitimate heir, unlike his distant brother, William. Though younger in age, Theodore has often met William on the battlefield, and their relationship is a very unsettling one. Theodore learned through several combat masters, including Lord Gawain and the mysterious Lord Black. However, his true potential goes untested so far.
Sovereigns:
Alexander Gawain
Rank: Sovereign (Baron of Havenia)
Age: 34
Bio:
The only person that can be found at the High King's side at any point in the year, Alexander Gawain's title is more of a ceremonial one as the High King oversees Havenia himself. However, his command of the High King's personal guard is another matter. Alexander is known for his impressive skill in combat, his tactical mindset, and his quick learning ability.
Timothy Altus
Rank: Sovereign (Baron of Altius)
Age: 19
Bio:
Rising to his rank at an early age, Timothy is relatively new to the stage, and has taken the throne of a very important state to the empire. How he will fare is often debated and wondered, but so far, his reign has been a stable one. He learned all the same skills as any baron's son would, and thus he knows how to fight, though he has yet to prove his worth.
Fredrick Black
Rank: Sovereign (Baron of Terminus)
Age: 37
Bio:
The lord of Terminus is a quiet and conservative figure. Intelligent beyond expectation, he was the mastermind behind the Crown Gem, his home. Aside from this, much of his personality, and his past in general, is a closed book that few question or hypothesize about.
Torgal
Rank: Sovereign (Baron of Sovanis)
Age: Uncertain (Believed ~200 Years)
Bio:
The eldest member of the Sovereign court, Torgal is also the only Sovani, and the baron of, perhaps, the most important state of the empire. Torgal is somewhat prideful, but intelligent. He is a master of battle-tactics and a skilled strategist. To add to it, he is also a skilled warrior in his own right. However, he has always been closed-mouthed and isn't one to speak much except to deliver orders to his subjects.
Generals/Knights
Sylvis Stormcrow
Rank: Liberation Army General
Age: 31
Bio:
This former knight to the throne is a ruthless and very dangerous opponent. Merciless, it is a wonder why he even joined up with the rebellion. Perchance he is indebted to Prince William, maybe he's bloodthirsty and seeks battle, or perhaps he's out for revenge against the royal family? Whatever his reasons, his actions are far from 'noble.'
Rodric Verus
Rank: Crimson Knight/Golden Sovereign
Age: 24
Bio:
A close friend to Kyle Raylen, Rodric Verus is both a member of the Golden Sovereigns, having tutored under Lord Gawain's teachings, and the Crimson Order. His service to the empire has been an unremarkable one, however, as he has not lived long enough to see great battles. That is unless you count his frequent duels with Kyle.
Emma Rosemarie
Rank: Liberation Army Knight
Age: 27
Bio:
A former member of the Golden Sovereigns and former student to Lord Gawain, Emma Rosemarie once served alongside Kyle Raylen and Rodric Verus. Due to extenuating, but mysterious circumstances, however, she resigned and then disappeared. Soon afterwords, it was reported that she joined the rebellion, prompting despair, anger, and confusion from her peers.
Royal Servants:
Kyle Raylen
Rank: Auris Crystal Knight
Age: 20
Bio:
His body infused with Crystal, Fredrick's power is considerable even at his age. His skills are also nothing to laugh at as he has seen many battles already. While it is illegal for Crystal to be ingested, Fredrick's fate was chosen upon his birth, being born sick, and the parents using Crystal to attempt to cure him. The end result was far from pleasant, as Fredrick is an orphan under the ward of the High King himself now.
Jace Avair
Rank: Auris Cataclysm
Age: 23
Bio:
One of the Auris that reacted more radically to Crystal activation, Jace's condition is still manageable, fortunately, and he has not lost any of his original self to it either. That being said, his ability to utilize Crystal is astounding, surpassing that of most Sovani Novaes even. Due to his wings, though, many have come to call him the 'Crystal Fairy.' Whether that is a compliment or an insult remains to be seen.
Mercenaries:
Reaper
Rank: Personal Assassin
Age: Unknown
Bio:
The personal assassin of the High King, Reaper, or Grim as he's known in other places, is of astounding skill, though of unknown origin. He is believed to be a Crystal wielder of some sort, as well as possibly being human in nature, but these are unconfirmed rumors. What can be stated, though, is that anyone that becomes the target of this Reaper does not survive the encounter.
