I recently bought this game:

The guy who made is now a multi-millionaire and the game is still in alpha
Basically, it's multiplayer, on a randomly generated, or custom terrain and you can dig down, build up, make castles, fight with swords, tnt, have minecart races, and pretty much blow sh*t up

I LOVE IT because it's like a gmod that you dont need noclip in to go through walls or the ground
you can just dig through entire mountains or cover oceans with wood from trees you cut down
and the best part is, it only has like 10% of it's features right now and notch(creator) is spending lots of time making it so that villages, castles, towers, and dungeons with dragons and stuff will randomly generate with the terrain and you can interact, buy/sell/trade with the villagers, and once you mine crap you can craft it on your crafting bench

This game is VERY cool and it is well worth the 13 Bucks or 10 Quid he charges

Now, i DO plan to get minecraft soon nonetheless, as it sounds interesting, and i like these types of games.

With so many new features being implemented into minecraft it's difficult to keep up.
new stuff:
-tame-able wolves
-beds
-better lighting
-Mann co. crates (april 1st easter egg)
-cake
-cookies
-dyed wool
-more stuff
