Agree with my math
Federation Vs Empire debate
First topic message reminder :
This is a cool program i found
http://www.stardestroyer.net/Empire/Science/Asteroids.html
by this calculator a full power phaser from the Enterprise D at optimal range could destroy an asteroid made of nickel iron with a diameter of 850 meter depending giving a Galaxy class star ship a firepower of 4.5 megatons
While one energy bolt from an ISD can destroy the same type of asteroid with a diameter of 591 meters that would take 1.5 megatons of energy
now just because an ISD's weapons are 2 1/3 that doesn’t mean the Empire is out of the fight I’ve calculated the total fire power of an ISD at somewhere around 42 megatons (28 TL's) where as a Galaxy class got about 36 megatons (8 phaser arrays)
heres the site with all my info http://www.st-v-sw.net/STSWhi2.html
vote in poll to
and if you dispute me please offer evidence

Re: Federation Vs Empire debate
The Romulan war, The Klingon Cold War, The Dominion War. And those are just the official ones
I woulds say edge Federation in the tactical area
Reasons 1 maneuverability and speed. A federation vessel would run circles around a Star Destroyers.
2) fleet Sizes (not total ship count) The largest ever Empirical fleet was only 27 ships big, while the tenth fleet was 113 and when combined with part of the 2nd and 3rd fleets totaled over 600. But if the Empire could catch on early the might have the edge. (Remember we aren't counting anything but Federation and Empire) Granted a single federation ship against a SSD or the DS would fail utterly.

Re: Federation Vs Empire debate
the oth thing is that the empire is well, evil, and thus would be willing to use tactics the feddies wouldn't, such as viral agents that the federation hasn't dealt with yet. Also, the empire has many assassins, and could cripple the federation with those. until they started beginningn to lose noticably, the federation would not uuse assassins either, and then Picard or some other honor filled captain would stop them or something.
Re: Federation Vs Empire debate
The federation (if they used assassins) whould be far better at it (Remeber Dax and the super sniper). and plus it would be nearly impossible to get an assassin on a federation ship. (Not to say the cant destroy the council.
The biggest thing in the Federations favor is well their the Good guys meaning the HAVE to win

Re: Federation Vs Empire debate
I notice the "good guys HAVE to win"" policy didn't work out too well for the jedi.

Re: Federation Vs Empire debate
The empire has a lot more raw materials, making it much easier for them to survive a prolonged war
On another note, considering they have had way more time, star wars reallly should have been more advanced compared to star trek.

Plus the fact that if the federation were losing, Q would just show up for picard and fix itXD

Re: Federation Vs Empire debate
1. i wasnt saying they should be more advanced in this discussion, just pointing out an ironic fact.
2. As far as I have seen, q would make more trouble than he is worth

Re: Federation Vs Empire debate
no. he is in an order of his own, and a being of more power than any of the forces at the feddies or empires disposal. He has no desire to ever be part of the federation, and, i must say, a total douche.
Re: Federation Vs Empire debate
but a lovable douche
My point was this is Federation Vs Empire
not Star Trek Vs Empire

Re: Federation Vs Empire debate
Exactly! On another note, the empire has so many wars going on, that they might have better defences, since most of its worlds already have combat machines and starships, while the federation would need to mobilize and move most of its troops and ships into position. Then again, the federation IS faster, and would move quicker.
Re: Federation Vs Empire debate
Only in sub light. They can't maintain there faster potential as long as the Empire
Re: Federation Vs Empire debate
The Empire has a more structured system, and Has a chain of command that is very hard to break. Unless you kill a large number of leaders and officers, they will always have someone to be in charge. The federation has such versatility within starships, but I don't see as much of it in the bigger command positions.
