When the tremendous blow hit, she let herself fall backwards, and rolled. She got back up and sheathed her sword, but kept her shield raised. She raised her hand by her shoulder for a moment, then a large flame suddenly exploded to life. It intensified into a crimson flare very quickly. She then hurled the fireball at Auger. When it impacts, it would explode violently and liquefy the ground into lava in a small radius around the impact site.

She would not, even flinch however, despite how obvious it was she had just taken a painful hit. She would retaliate by kicking Auger in the face, then lunging for a stab into his chest.

The elf saw that he was preparing to defend himself, so drew her avelyn crossbow again and fired another volley of bolts. This time, sweeping as she did so; one bolt to his left, one at him, and one to his right.

All three bolts seemed to hit Auger, but went right through him, as he seemingly disappeared.. "I wasn't even sure I could pull after-images off yet." Auger said from behind her, as he stabbed at her lower back, gleeful expression still on his face.

She would easily let go of the sword and let it fly upward and tightened her abdominal muscles to not be hurt as much by a hit to the abdomen. However, she would immediately lower her hand after letting the sword go and put it in front of Auger's face. A half-second later, she ignited the air in front of her palm with pyromancy into an intense flame that would burn anything caught in the conjured blast furnace.

She would glare at Auger, seemingly starting to get irritated. Rather than raise her shield, she raised her sword up vertically in front of herself and held it with both hands. This would effectively put Auger's arm on a collision course with the sharp edge of her sword, before his fist would reach her face. However, the inertia on Auger's sword would likely still carry the hilt into her head if his arm did hit the sword.

Auger, thankfully, had positioned himself into a stable stance, and pulled back from the attack just in time, though a scratch on his knuckly proved he couldn't do it too quickly. Auger, twisting like a fish, managed not to get impaled on the sword, but is still slammed into the ground. kicking out with his other leg, he manages to wrench free of the woman's grip, before immediately getting to his feet, stabbing thrice at the dark elf in a blur of motion.

She had raised her shield the moment he landed and had missed the sword and managed to block the blows. She kicked Auger back, then sheathed her sword and raised her hands over her head. They began glowing a bright yellow. She crouched down, slammed her hands into the ground, and fire jets shot out of the ground all around her, threatening to cook Auger alive.

Auger jumped away from the kick, which luckily gave him a far away enough distance to then avoid the fire jets. looking around, he immediately noticed a rock as big as his head, and, using one hand, picked it up and threw it at the dark elf just as the fire jets abated.

The elf ducked under the rock and drew the crossbow again and shot at Auger, but this time, fired in repeated bursts. She fired at least six volleys in succession at him, whether or not he dodged them all.

Auger, ready for the crossbow this time, dodged all the shots, coming closer to the dark elf every time, before coming so close he actually threw his sword at the crossbow from five feet away, intent on breaking it. He'd had enough of all this complicated ranged combat.
