[Quantum Rain]

The ruined cityscapes of Kiltara abound, and so too does the battle yet rage. The battle for Kiltara and the fate of mankind as a whole rests on this planet, and several others across the Arcturus front. Millions have died defending their home, and millions more in the service of Aeon. How long can this blind faith last, or how far can it reach, to save a desolate land?

Auger would awaken in a bombed out building, a wreckage of a battle long since passed. He laid next to a fire that shouldn't have existed, and a being whose presence was oddly familiar. "I hope that dark elf hadn't taken too much of the fight out of you, Auger of Praaxis. It would be a shame." The fully armored being spoke with a voice that seemed to reverberate in the air, as if many spoke the same words. He was obviously aware that Auger was awakening.

[Quantum Rain]

The lumbering, giant armored form that was the black knight turned slowly at Auger, radiating power and energy. In one hand he held concentrated deathly energies, and in the other a long, spikey-handled battleaxe. His presence, now focused on Auger, was suffocating.

The angels that were around Auger took up a defensive stance, each choosing one of the other Exitium pawns that stood amongst the tower. This was done as per Vires's orders, and allowed Auger a clear lane directly to his intended opponent.

Auger's own aura was seemingly reacting to the enemy in front of him, appearing in the form of a giant wolf's head as Auger charged forth towards his enemy, the image seemingly insulating him from the black Knight's effects. "Come on!" Auger yelled, both of his blades drawn. "Show me that power you've got hiding in there!"

[Quantum Rain]

The dark knight swiped his hand in the air, causing a wave of energy to sweep Auger away to the side. As the angels and the minions engaged in combat, Auger was left to the Dark Knight alone on the tower. Said knight was eerily silent as it waited for Auger to regain his balance.

Auger was pushed back, his blades catching the energy and allowing him to keep his feet under him, though he seemed to be pushed into a crouching position, pushed back by the inertia. "Heh." Auger grunted, getting back to his feet. "Looks like you want this to be one on one as much as I do." Auger said, before throwing his knife at his opponent, the weapon moving fast enough to simply be a silvery gray blur to the naked eye.

[Quantum Rain]

The knight raised one of his gauntlets to block. A black energy taking the form of a shield of some sort blocked the knife as it clashed against the shield. As the shield dissipated, the knife fell to the ground harmlessly. The knight stood there, waiting for Auger's next move, and almost taunting him for using such a weak tactic.

"That's a neat ability." Auger commented, grinning, as he charged directly at the knight, pulling the knife back behind him with a tug on the chain, before spinning it at a high velocity above and slightly behind him, making the illusion of a gray, smooth circular saw-blade above him. Auger's grin was fully apparent as he charged his opponent.

[Quantum Rain]

The knight brought his axe to bear as a dark energy coursed through it. He slammed it downward into the ground and caused a large vertical shockwave of said energy to come crashing towards Auger. As the cascading energy dissipated quickly, the knight could be seen speeding towards Auger with his feet levitating above the ground, axe in hand and ready to swing. He had used the energy more as a cover than as an attack.

Auger began to push himself out of the way to dodge the shockwave, and almost got sliced by the Axe as the knight barreled in, the near-dodge Auger made left him in close-quarters with the other warrior. "hehehehe..." Auger laughed, dodging the axe attack before stabbing forward with his long-sword at the Black Knight's midsection

[Quantum Rain]

The knight kicked upwards, altering the blades trajectory to harmlessly scrape against the armor as he went for another swing, now imbuing it with a deathly aura. He slashed diagonally at Auger, bringing his other hand to bear, it too resonating with the same energy.

Pulling his hand back, Auger stepped forward, practically next to the knight, stopping the axe not at it's tip but nearer his opponent's gauntlets, using his long sword to stop the strike nearer it's focus. "you can do better than this." Auger chided, stabbing at his opponent with his short sword.

[Quantum Rain]

The knight flourished his axe out of Auger's grasp quickly, and blocked the short sword as he swung with his other hand at Auger, releasing a powerful wave of energy. The knight then swirled with the axe and released another wave of energy from his axe meant to attack both a close or far-away Auger, should he dodge or not. He was oddly fast for a heavily armored being.

Auger rolled out of the way of the blast, grabbing his chain and spinning his short sword, before jumping upwards, preparing to swing it down upon his foe like a buzzsaw. "come on, come on, come on, come on, COME ON!" Auger yelled, laughing as he did so.

[Quantum Rain]

The knight held up his free hand at Auger, conjuring a swirling mass of energy in his hand. In another moment, this energy launched itself at Auger, creating a beam of swirling blackness. "Is this all you can muster, gladiator?" The knight finally spoke, his voice reverberating and grinding against the ears of those who could hear him. It sounded more like foreign thoughts than a voice that was spoken.

"Hmmm? How'd you know about that? You a fan or something?" Auger asked, jumping high in order to dodge this beam, but needing to stop his buzz-saw as a result due to the ceiling. striking from the air, Auger would then try to bring both blades to bear with his own strength, intent on breaking his opponent's guard.

[Quantum Rain]

The knight brought both of his arms to block the sword. The axe held off one sword, while his gauntlet the other. "Yours is a barbarian's way of combat." He spoke, as his gauntlet shattered and broke, revealing a hand made entirely of a black mass. He mustered his strength and threw Auger back with such force as to leave trails of energy in the movement of his arms. He took his axe and threw it at Auger, it too leaving a trail of black energy as it spun towards its target.

Auger was knocked into the air by the attack, seeing the black axe coming at his own position. not wanting to be bisected, auger used a quick flourish and spin of his chain to throw his blade down into the rock beneath him, using the anchor to pull himself downwards and out of the blade at the last second. "Got a problem with that? Or are you just bothered a 'mere barbarian' is able to keep up? Auger asked with a grin, charging forward at full speed.

[Quantum Rain]

The knight said nothing in response, walking calmly over to Auger with power coursing through his arms. He held his hand out as the axe flew towards the knight's open palm. "No. Merely your arrogance bothers me." He said, as the skies darkened and the atmosphere around them seemed to press down on others even more. His power was growing it seemed.

Vires had finished his preparations and sensed this change in the battle. As he calmly walked up the staircase, confident that Auger could overturn his opponent, he was curious as to the how. He would appear at the top of the staircase as the angels had vanquished the guards. They started to move toward the Knight, but Vires held up his hand, ordering them not to with that mere signal. This is his fight, and if he can't win it, he shouldn't.

"Really? Figured these blades coming so close to your throat." Auger said, moving to strike this Exitium commander. Rushing forwards, Auger seemed to vanish at the last minute, revealing that the last second of his rush had been an after-image, only to appear behind and to the left of the knight, striking for his back.

[Quantum Rain]

The knight spun around passively, quickly, the axe rounding the turn and unleashing a wave of unbridled power at Auger's offensive. The knight resumed his stance, awaiting Auger to recover. He said nothing more to the young gladiator that stood before him.

The Axe would strike into Auger's shoulder, As Auger used his smaller blade to stop the black knight's axe, the axe cleaving flesh but not digging too deeply into Auger's shoulder. Auger's arm would hook around the inside edge of the black knight's Axe if he were to try to pull it back, As Auger grinned at his opponent. using his longsword at almost the same Moment, Auger stabbed directly where he assumed the heart would be on his opponent. "now let's see if there's a heart underneath all that blackness." Auger said with a grin.

As the sword pierced through the armor, it would stop half-way in. Then, the knight stared at Auger levelly, his power not waning in the least. A black energy swirled forth from the wound, encompassing the sword and moving towards Auger, as the knight pushed more strength into his axe, a black energy glowing as he prepared to fire another wave of energy at point-blank.

Auger glanced at the knight and then back at the axe before planning his plan of action. Looking directly towards his opponent, he quickly let go of his longsword, making sure to keep grip of his short blade, before throwing a trio of jabs towards the knight's midsection, at the same time bringing his leg up for a low crushing kick, his foot headed firmly towards the black knight's shin, intent on breaking the leg and throwing him off.

The punches stalled the knight's attack, but the kick crashed against the armor, doing more harm to Auger's leg than to the armor. The knight looked down at Auger and let out a burst of energy, throwing him back. He stood proudly and straight, axe in hand, radiating energy. This foe was more powerful than what Auger is used to competing against.

Vires shook his head, disappointed in Auger's attempts. "You're a fool to think you can crush steel. You leverage its own weight against it or it will crush you instead." He spoke aloud to Auger, watching his fight. "Slice past his power, dodge his moves, and use his own power against him, or else you will be decimated by the swing of his arm alone."

The knight held his axe up in the air, power coursing through it. Vires spoke again, though more as thoughts directed to Auger. "You will have evaded before he even moves. If he attacks, you will have already countered. If he swings, you will have turned his strength against him. If you sliced him, you will have done so a thousand times. Where one attack cannot kill him, a million thereof shall, for you shall fight as an army, not as a man." The knight swung his axe, unleashing a cascading attack, and then swung a second time, a wave of energy rippling towards Auger, and then a third time, releasing several flanking beams. The symbol he created glowed like the moon, the prelude to a fourth and final attack.
