[Quantum Rain]

The ruined cityscapes of Kiltara abound, and so too does the battle yet rage. The battle for Kiltara and the fate of mankind as a whole rests on this planet, and several others across the Arcturus front. Millions have died defending their home, and millions more in the service of Aeon. How long can this blind faith last, or how far can it reach, to save a desolate land?

Auger would awaken in a bombed out building, a wreckage of a battle long since passed. He laid next to a fire that shouldn't have existed, and a being whose presence was oddly familiar. "I hope that dark elf hadn't taken too much of the fight out of you, Auger of Praaxis. It would be a shame." The fully armored being spoke with a voice that seemed to reverberate in the air, as if many spoke the same words. He was obviously aware that Auger was awakening.

Vires chuckled, but did not deign to meet blades with his new-found opponent in the middle of a hallway. He led Auger back outside to one of the many platforms of the Arms Fort. Once there, he did not unsheathe his sword. "The rules of this engagement are simple. Neither will seek to cripple or destroy the other and avoid substantial collateral damage. I will not use my blade for this task, I do not want it damaged." Vires said to Auger as he adjusted his gauntlets to ensure that they were firmly in place. "Aside from what I have said, you are free to use whatever means to combat me."

Anna, alongside several more angels that followed Vires, appeared on the platform, taking to the sidelines and others actually floating off the edge to avoid being in the way. Vires himself turned to Auger, standing statuesque. "The opening move is yours." He offered, taking the form of the patient knight at first.

"Barehanded? Sounds fun!" Auger said, charging at vires, jumping from leg to leg in order to break up his own look and feel. through this hopping maneuver, he was constantly moving from the right to the left of Vires, before appearing to his left, throwing a round-house kick suddenly at his side.

Vires stood calm, focused on his surroundings. As Auger went to kick Vires, he spun to the side, grabbed Auger's leg, and threw him. He was utilizing the momentum of his spin and that of Auger's for increased power in the counterattack. Vires stood up straight again, awaiting Auger's next move.

Auger, unperturbed, went flying for the walls of the arms fort, but managed to right his momentum in mid-air, kicking off the wall as he neared it in order to strike Vires. The kick left a 3 inch dent in the metal. readying his strike, auger did not land next to Vires, but just close enough that when he hand-springed for a landing, he would be right next to him, before throwing a trio of incredibly fast punches at Vires' midsection.

Vires stood there as his arm went to instinctively block the series of blows. While the trio did no discernible damage to Vires, they dented the gauntlets Vires wore quite a deal. Vires, in retaliation, sweeped Auger away with his arm and turned toward his opponent, the gauntlet mending itself into its proper shape again. "Impressive strength for one so young. Try to use it properly though. Can you defend with it?" Vires asked as he entered a different form, that of a ruthless warrior.

He lept forward at Auger, intending to strike forward at first before he faded and appeared to the side of Auger, grabbing him and hurling him into the ground before stomping on his midsection.

Auger would initially seem surprised by the attack, but as Vires went to grab the image of Auger would fade, as Auger impishly appeared a little away from him. It would seem Vires only grabbed at an after-image.
"Woah, that woulda hurt!" Auger commented, seeing Vires move. "You're not weak at all." Auger said, getting into an offensive stance. "this'll be fun after all."

Vires hummed at Auger's tactics. Now noting him as more than just a brute relying on strength and overpowering an enemy. He stood straight again before teleporting once more beside Auger, going to strike him with a steel fist once more.

Auger, flipping his body backwards to avoid the attack, allowed his upper body to fall a certain distance, just allowing him to be missed by the punch, before catching himself with his hand, flipping his leg into a sudden kick to Vires's head. the strike would be so strong that Auger would end up whipping a gust up on the platform.

The apparition faded as Auger's attack struck it, and immediately behind it, Vires was charging an energy-based attack. When Auger would see Vires, he would be unleashing a beam of energy aimed at his opponent at almost point blank range. Following up this attack, Vires charged through the beam to uppercut Auger and hammer him down in an attempted combo.

Auger put up his hands in an attempt to block the strike, not seeing the sudden attack coming, and managed to block some of the energy beam - though his arms appeared somewhat scorched and what fabric of his shirt existed on his arms was erased. Auger didn't see the uppercut coming, however, and fell for both blows, knocked up and then down by Vires' hits.
Knocked to the ground, seeming shocked by the damage, Auger still got up a couple seconds later. "Didn't see that laser coming at all. I didn't know you could do that." Auger said, grinning regardless. "I'll keep that one in mind from now on."

"I have many abilities, none limited to strictly magic or words of power." Vires informed Auger, stepping back twice and adjusting his gauntlets again. "Expect our enemies to fall under similar circumstances. Many are more powerful than I am in this form." Vires noted Auger's aura of power as increasingly strange, but pushed the thought aside. He switched into a third combative stance, the valiant gladiator, conjuring a blade of yellow energy in his hand as he kept it in front of Auger, waiting for his opponent to make the next move once more.

Auger's hand went to the grip of his sword, as his energy increased slightly. His grin went wider, but as he pulled out his swords, throwing the smaller one upwards, as he did so, he seemed to move with more grace than before, as he quickly undid the chain around himself. "Well, if you're going to use a sword, I will too." Auger said, but the words seemed a little less childlike. While Auger would still radiate no killing intent, he both looked and felt more the warrior, as he grabbed the smallsword, connecting both it and his longsword's chain together. whipping the small-sword around, he finally threw it at Vires, the blade moving at incredible speed as it cut through the air between them, so fast that ordinary eyes would not see the point the blade started and stopped moving.

Vires side-stepped, the blade sparking across his helmet. He grabbed the chain of the shortsword, pulling on it and attempting to throw Auger forward and to stun him as Vires followed up by charging at Auger and stabbing downward onto him.

Auger held, moving to a wide-stance, before adding his own strength into pulling back. bending his knees slightly, he allowed a yank diagonally on the chain, using leverage to increase his gain on the weapon.

Vires grinned underneath his helmet as he held the chain in place with one arm, sliding towards Auger inches at a time, but generally keeping it still. With his other hand, Vires unleashed a series of strafing beam attacks in Auger's direction while simultaneously pulling on the chain with his own weight and as much strength as he could conjure up with one arm.

Seeing the first beam move to strike him, Auger, rather than try to maintain his tug, instead jumped up in the air, forgoing it completely - and then, near the crux of his aerial jump, yanked on the chain again, his strength coupled with his sudden aerial momentum moving him towards Vires at an incredibly fast speed. taking his long-sword in hand, he would keep it to slice at vires in the case of getting close, or to block a laser coming straight at him.

Vires hummed in intrigue, but then split the beam across his five fingers. Two beams flanked on each side while one ran straight towards Auger, all at varying heights and even curved to a degree to track their targets. Vires still kept on the chain, though he couldn't overpower his opponent so easily with just one hand.

Auger brought his longsword back, counting all the beams, before letting off a slash, aided by his own fighting reflexes, to cut them all to pieces. however, he managed to miss one that flanked him, hitting his shoulder. Still, Auger would not truly react to the damage, though now he landed just to the side of Vires.

Vires let go of the chain momentarily just to have the shortblade come into his hand, and to throw Auger off-balance as the shortblade was tossed at him at an incredible speed.

Auger caught the blade, however, grabbing onto the chain just as it passed near him. Striking so fast he seemed to have an image of him standing still, still there, Auger struck at Vires's torso with a ruthless fist, putting a large amount of body weight into the strike.

Vires was surprised for a moment as he lurched forward and the back of his armor was severely dented, but he regained himself. He rolled forward and turned at the same time so that he could see Auger for merely a moment. He visibly shifted until he disappeared entirely, reappearing as multiples of himself shifting in and out of existence as Vires neared Auger, striking from the sides with his energetic sword and from above with "bullets" of energy, almost doing both simultaneously.

Auger blocked the blows with some degree of success, seeming to be strained by the constant attacks from all sides. one of the bullets got through, on his left shoulder, and it left a nasty cut. "rrrrgh! I can't block all of this, I can't get my concentration right! what do I do?" Auger thought to himself.

[Quantum Rain]

Vires split himself into three, taking up positions in three distinct locations, but with the phasing images, where he was going to attack from was difficult to determine. Vires charged up his beam attack and fired once more, five beams from above, a normal from behind, and five more at various angles from the front.

Auger managed to cut through the ones in Front, moving forward to dodge the strikes from above, but missed the ones going for his back - his principle blind spot, as he was too distracted to react to it. "I can't react to this many attacks. How do I deal with this?" Auger thought, dealing with a challenge he hadn't had since his days at the coliseum.

[Quantum Rain]

In one moment, the shifting images stopped to show Vires at all sides and above as well. "Learn quickly, warrior." He said, preparing another, and this time much larger, volley of beams. They all attacked at once, but only one of the beams was real. The rest were illusions.
